The contact metals for both the limit switches and light sockets are flimsy and tarnish very easily. Open the garage door and watch it closely as it opens. You can adjust them with a few tools. When the garage door opens about halfway or 5 feet from the ground and stops the up limit switch needs to be adjusted.

Next test the garage door with the help of another person by opening and closing it. When the door does not close all the way the limit switch may be responsible. Turn clockwise to increase the travel distance and counterclockwise to decrease the travel distance. If your garage door does not close completely or closes and then starts to move up the travel limit switch issue may be the cause.

Read the descriptions included with each part to learn if the replacement limit switch and travel module assemblies are compatible with several brands and models or only a few. For example the liftmaster 41a6408 absolute encoder travel module is only compatible with liftmaster 3800p and 3800pld garage door operators. The sooner the better as this situation may cause serious safety issues. The limit switch contacts and the light sockets for that matter are made of very cheap materials on my 2003 chamberlain garage door opener.
